Scale It! Privacy Policy
Effective October 7, 2026
Scale It! ("the game") is made by Betelgeuse Studio LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the game uses, why, and the choices you have. We wrote it to be short and readable. If anything is unclear, write to us at hello@betelgeuse.studio.
The short version
- No accounts. You never sign up, log in or give us your e-mail, phone number or real name.
- Your progress stays on your device. Stars, coins, unlocks and settings are saved locally.
- Online features are optional. The Daily leaderboard and online duels send a random player ID, the nickname you choose and your scores to our game server. Nothing else.
- Ads are served by Google AdMob. Where the law requires it, the game asks for your consent first, and you can change your choice at any time.
- Purchases are handled by Apple or Google. We never see your payment details.
- We do not sell your data, and we do not use analytics or tracking tools of our own.
1. Information stored on your device
The game keeps one save file on your device. It contains your progress (stars, best scores, coins, unlocked worlds, themes and objects, Daily results, duel record), your settings (sound, music, haptics, units), the nickname you picked, a random player ID, and whether you bought Remove Ads or All Packs.
This file never leaves your device, except as described in section 3. Settings → Reset progress erases your progress; deleting the game erases everything. On Android, the save is excluded from cloud backups.
2. Information we do not collect
The game does not ask for or access your location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, calendar or files. It has no chat, no social login and no friend lists. We do not use analytics, crash-reporting or attribution services.
3. Online features: Daily leaderboard and duels
These features only work when you are online and choose to use them. To run them, the game sends the following to our game server:
| What | Why | Visible to other players |
|---|---|---|
| Player ID: a random code created on your device the first time you play. It is not linked to your device, your name or any advertising identifier. | Recognises your scores and duel record from one session to the next. | No |
| Nickname: the name you choose in Settings (by default something like "Scaler1234"). | Shown next to your scores and to your duel opponents. | Yes |
| Daily scores: your five accuracies and total for that day's challenge, and the game version. | Ranks you on the global Daily leaderboard. | Yes (nickname, rank, total) |
| Duel data: your size guesses during a match, match results, trophies and win/loss/draw counts. | Plays the match fairly and keeps your trophy count. | Your opponent sees your nickname, trophies and guesses |
- Please don't use your real name or personal details as a nickname. Offensive nicknames are replaced automatically with a neutral one.
- IP address. Like any internet service, our server sees your IP address while it talks to the game. We use it only to deliver the service and to stop abuse (rate limits). It is not stored with your player ID or scores, and may appear briefly in security logs.
- Retention. Daily scores are deleted automatically after about 400 days. Your nickname, trophies, win/loss counts and match history are kept while the online features run, so your record survives app updates.
- Where. Our server is hosted in the European Union (Paris, France) by Fly.io.
- Legal basis (EEA/UK): we process this data to provide the online features you ask for (performance of a contract) and, for abuse prevention, our legitimate interest in keeping the service fair and available.
4. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The game is free and shows ads from Google AdMob: a full-screen ad now and then between campaign levels or after an Endless run (never before you have played a while, never during the Daily challenge or a duel), and reward videos that you choose to watch for an extra heart or free coins. Ads are limited to content rated PG or lower.
To serve and measure ads, and to prevent fraud, Google and its partners may collect information from your device, such as an advertising identifier (the Android advertising ID, or on iOS an identifier that is unique to this app's developer), your IP address and approximate location derived from it, your device model and operating system, and how you interact with ads.
- Consent. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland (and in other places where the law requires it), the game shows Google's consent form before any ad is requested. You can accept, refuse or choose specific purposes. If you refuse personalised ads, you may still see non-personalised ads.
- Change your mind at any time in Settings → Privacy (the button appears wherever a choice is required).
- On iOS the game does not ask for permission to track you, so your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) is never shared.
- On Android you can reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads in your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads).
- Remove Ads. The Remove Ads purchase turns off the full-screen ads for good. Reward videos stay available because you only see them when you ask for them.
Google's use of this information is described in Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and in "How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services" (https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites).
5. In-app purchases
The game offers two optional one-time purchases: Remove Ads and All Packs. Payments are processed entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play under their own terms and privacy policies. We never receive your name, e-mail, card or billing details. The store only tells the game which products you own, so it can unlock them and restore them on a new device (Restore Purchases in Settings or the Shop).
6. Sharing a result
The Daily SHARE button copies a short text (your score and a row of coloured squares) to your clipboard. You decide whether and where to paste it. The game itself does not post anything.
7. Device permissions
- Internet and network state (Android): to load ads, reach the leaderboard and play online duels, and to know when you are offline.
- Vibrate (Android): for haptic feedback while you play. You can turn haptics off in Settings.
- Advertising ID (Android, added by Google's ads SDK): lets Google use your device's advertising ID, subject to your consent and device settings.
8. Children
Scale It! is a family-friendly trivia game suitable for all ages, but it is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The online features only use a random ID, a nickname and scores, and ads are limited to PG content. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, for example as a nickname, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EEA and UK, or the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export the data we hold about you, to object to or restrict its use, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
- Delete your online data: e-mail hello@betelgeuse.studio with your nickname and, if you can, the date of a Daily you played or a duel. We will delete your scores and duel record within 30 days.
- Ads: change your consent in Settings → Privacy, or use your device's ad settings.
- Everything else lives on your device: Reset progress or uninstall the game.
We do not sell or share your personal information for money, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising ourselves.
10. Security
Data sent to our server is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/WSS). The server stores only what is listed in section 3, with access limited to the people who run the game.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and, for important changes, tell you in the game or in the store listing before the changes apply.
